1. We believe in the verbal inspiration of Scripture. That is we believe that each word was given by God to the writers of the Bible in the original languages. The Bible therefore is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness. 2. We believe that God eternally exists in three persons -- the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are one God. 3. We believe in the literal six-day creation of the world and mankind by God as given in the Genesis account. 4. We believe that man was created in the image of God and was declared good. However, man sinned against God, losing his spiritual life and becoming dead in trespasses and sins. We believe that all mankind sinned in Adam and are therefore under the wrath of God. We believe that all men and women are born sinners and are unable and unwilling to seek or please God and can do nothing to win His favor. "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God." 5. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man without ceasing to be God. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and was born of the Virgin Mary. 6. We believe that because all are dead in trespasses and sins, no one can enter into the Kingdom of God unless he is born again. We believe that Christ was made sin for us and that He bore the penalty of our sin on the cross and that redemption has been accomplished through His shed blood. Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins. 7. We believe that in order to be saved and receive the forgiveness God offers, a person must repent and trust Christ for salvation. God has promised that all who call on the name of the Lord will be saved. Such a person is given the righteousness of Christ and is therefore declared righteous by God. All of this is unrelated and apart from any supposed righteousness or merit in the person himself. 8. We believe that salvation is a work of God and as such is complete. God has promised that what He has begun He will complete. Those who trust Christ have been given eternal life and will therefore never perish. No one will be able to separate him from the love of God in Christ. 9. We believe that the Holy Spirit is given to every believer. The Holy Spirit unites the believer into the body of Christ and gives gifts by which the person can minister to the rest of the body causing it to grow and mature. 10. We believe that God gives each believer a new heart and begins in him the process of sanctification whereby God changes the person and helps him in growing more and more into the image of Christ. We believe each Christian should live a life of obedience to Christ and seek to please Him in all things. 11. We believe in a literal Devil or Satan and that he is a fallen angel originally created by God in perfection, but that by seeking to be like God he fell. 12. We believe that the Church is the Body of Christ and is made up of all believers throughout the world. We believe that the Church is the Bride of Christ. 13. We believe in the resurrection of both the just and the unjust. We believe that the just will live forever with God in heaven and that the unjust will suffer eternal punishment in hell. |
